Halloween Costume

So my original goal was to make a sick Halloween costume, and yeah i didn’t make one, BUT a friend was up to the challenge and made me a costume of my favorite character of all time which for probably most of you out there is Squall from final fantasy 8 [that was one long sentence, sorry English teachers].
Sadly i didn’t have my replica of squall’s gunblade with me and my parents were too afraid i was going to get killed or arrested or what not if i had it out here, even though i had no intention of bringing it to a party.
Anyway, i consider this a huge success and will be wearing it again in July when i attend ComicCon with the rest of the DYG(Dashing Young Gentlemen).
Status on getting contacts

Apparently poking yourself in the eye over and over doesn’t guarantee you’ll be able to actually put in contacts. I had my first training appointment on Saturday, and 0 contacts went into my eyes, or at least staid in my eyes. I have an amazing reflex to blink like crazy when something gets close to my eye and with all the solution i had on my hand and just general tearing up from holding my eye open my grip on my eyelashes couldn’t kept slipping. I went back today, actually managed to get it in for a split second only to have it fall right out because i didn’t realized it was in my eye and rubbed it out on accident. But i did managed to jab my eye several times only to have my eyelash deflect it away when only half was in. I got back again on Friday, let’s hope third time’s the charm.
Also on a side note, right after the appointment to get my contacts on saturday, i went and got a haircut and apparently if your barber doesn’t understand english you should be extremely specific on what you mean by hair over the ears because i thought it was clear i wanted it to hang over my ears and she thought it was cut over my ears. Needless to say it is now possibly the shortest it’s ever been.

As a good friend at work explained by a simple drawing, this is what i look like with and without glasses. As you can see my hair gets longer, i grow chest hair and everything sparkles.

Back to basics

One of the goals i’ve recently set this year is to draw more and get back into traditional arts and work my way up to painting on canvas. This mostly came about because i was too damn cheap to buy decorations for my apartment but wanted to put stuff on the wall and figured hey, i’ll just make something myself. This may be a terrible idea though but i’ll give it a shot. I figure i’ll start small and bought a sketch book, when i fill it up i’ll move onto the next media. Here’s my favorite sketch so far.

I went rollerblading today after work to get some exercise. Managed to find a shortcut route to target. Also managed to find a shortcut to the ground and a scraped up arm. So having left my copy of rock band 2 at work i started singing I wanna rock which lead me on windy path to the twisted sister music video, and boy is it amazing. The best part is the very start of the song which doesn’t start until 1:22 but the wait is worth it.
Logo Design to Existentialism (that’s right, i spelled it correctly on the first try)

Today I read an article on psdtuts.com on how to create a logo for whatever reason, the one in the article being a series of how to books all starting with the phrase “how to be a rockstar…” and then whatever the subject was. The article brought you through the whole creative process around creating a logo, everything from broad ideas like what do you want to portray with your logo to say about yourself to specifics whether it would be better to go with a logo that is just text or one with a symbol and how to even choose a name.
The original intent of looking at this site was to help inspire and guide me in making a logo for “iamsonoflars” or even just “son of lars” but the more i thought i realize this might also answer questions i’ve been having on how to define my life… and this just brings up all sorts of memorys of existentialism. To try and be brief i’ve always owned cheap clothes and often worn many free t-shirts because i didn’t want to care about how people judge me and let them define who i am by trying to dress in society’s standards, but now i’m realizing maybe i can still not be defined by society how i’m currently portraying myself isn’t the way i want to define myself. I want to stay true to me but somehow i also want to change and to figure out those changes i almost need to figure out my identity and create a sort of self branding for my everyday life.

So i’ve been conisdering dying my hair for a couple months now and a couple weeks ago i gave it an attempt. There are several lessons i learned from this “attempt”; from don’t buy RAW color hair dye because it won’t last to make sure everything is cleared off the sink cause somehow dye will go everywhere. Ok, so those plus don’t take a shower to wash the dye out because it will dye all the skin that it touches on it’s way to the drain were pretty much all the lessons i learned.
So after just a couple weeks my hair is back to it’s normal color, and i guess i shouldn’t have tried dying dark brown hair black just on it’s own so that’s why i’m giving it another shot, but this time something that will hopefully look unnatural and well different while i’m still young.
My plan originally was to attempt black hair with red streaks/ highlights but i’m not really sure how that will look and i’ve trying to do some research into things people have done already. Apparently google just likes to show off photos of emo kids (and yes i realize i might look like one) with all similar colors. I’m looking for more unique hair dying techniques.

So Eric Decker and I’ve been throwing around the idea to make a new pollo hombre movie now that we’ve both graduated and actually know a bit more about film and compositing and effects. This is my official announcement that i intend to make one more epic pollo hombre film,, and if my random math is correct we are on number VII. I have no idea when or how it’s going to get filmed, but first things first, play with photoshop and start to make posters to let people know, people like YOU!!! This is actually a incredibly blurry photo, i have another i took, but it might be emo, which just makes it awesome because who doesn’t like spanish with tons of teenage angst?
